a little bit about me:

Painting has brought me joy for as long as I can remember. From a young age, creating art was almost second nature, something I did without even thinking. I loved experimenting with mediums ranging from oil, to acrylic, pen & ink, charcoal, watercolor, and pastel. I was always enrolled in various art courses and spent my time sitting outside, painting everything I could get my hands on (my mom was less-than-thrilled when I stole every acrylic/ glass frame in the house and used them as canvasses).

I started exhibiting and selling my art as a teenager, winning a slew of Scholastic Awards along the way. An early highlight was receiving a National Scholastic Gold Medal, which I accepted on-stage at Carnegie Hall (an unforgettable experience). I spent two months in an immersive studio arts program in Central Italy, delving deeper into both the conceptual and technical aspects of art and developing a deep love for painting the natural world.

I continued my formal studies through my first year of college, after being accepted into the fine arts program at SMU’s Meadow School of the Arts. While there I participated in several large group exhibitions and experimented with new mediums such as metal-sculpting and woodworking.

Having entered college during the Great Recession, however, I felt compelled to earn a degree in a more “marketable” field. I took a detour, graduated with a B.A. in Advertising and a Minor in International Studies, and made a career in Advertising and Marketing.

My passion for art never waned, and I continued to develop my artistic skills as a pastime. With time though, I found my way back to the pursuit of dedicated, professional painting. Painting is what comes most naturally to me.

Through my work, I seek to recreate the equilibrium that makes the natural world so tranquil and beautiful. The focus of painting is usually adding paint to a surface, but I also concentrate on how I can remove that paint from my surface to build texture, complexity, and—most importantly—balance. I create each of my pieces aiming to find that harmony.

Painting gives me a sense of clarity, and I find that I’m able to best express myself through my visual language. I feel most connected to my sense of being when I’m painting, and I try to channel that sense of calmness in my work. My hope is for my paintings to convey to you all of the tranquility, complexity, and beauty that I feel when I’m creating them.

Thanks for stopping by! I’m so glad you’re here.
